Volunteer Positions :


Firefighter:
Duties include responding to fire, medical and other emergencies; maintaining and driving apparatus; operating fire pumps and other related duties.

Rescue Crew Member: Duties include responding to fire, medical and other emergencies; maintaining and driving Rescue-1; operating specialized tools and equipment and other related duties.

Watertender Operator: Duties include responding to fire, medical and other emergencies, maintaining and driving the Watertender, operating apparatus pumps, portable pumps, other water handling equipment and other related duties.

Cadets: This is a position that trains 14-18 year olds in fire and Emergency Medical Services operations. Based on their training level those over 16 may be able to respond on apparatus and participate in non-hazardous operations. This is a great opportunity for families to work together to help the Crown King community.

Dispatchers: Duties include tracking all personnel in service, properly gathering information when an incident is reported, dispatching out the proper companies and providing logistical support to the incident commander.

What are the minimum qualifications to volunteer?

Just a willingness to give a small amont of your time to be available to repond to community emergencies. Members should be residents, cabin owners or regular visitor to the Crown King area and need to be at least 18 years of age.

How much time do I need to give?

We ask that you regularly attend department meetings, which are held twice a month. We also ask that you are 'in-service' as regularly as possible.  

Each volunteer is required to participate in the Crown King General Recruit Class before becoming an active memeber of the fire department. All volunteers are trained on an on-going basis to complete neccessary certifications/trainings.

Trainings offered include : Hazardous Materious Awareness and Operations; CPR; Emergency Medical First Responder; Basic Wildland Firefighting, and many more.

Fill out an application and mail or drop it by Station 1.  We'll give you a call and set up time to talk with you in person.

Go online and complete three free independent study classes offered by FEMA--IS 100a, 200a, & 700a.  Bring your certificates to your recruit class.
